Technical features and application scope of DIN 965 fasteners
Important note: The DIN 965 standard has been officially withdrawn and replaced by the current international standard ISO 7046.
The DIN 965 standard defines the geometric parameters, tolerances, and technical requirements for countersunk head screws with a cross-recess (Phillips). This type of hardware is an industry standard for assembling precision equipment, instrumentation, and consumer electronics. The main design advantage of the product lies in the ability to fully recess the screw head into the body of the part, which ensures an ideally smooth surface of the assembly without protruding elements.
EV Group China engineers note that the use of screws according to this standard is optimal for connections not subjected to extreme critical shear or tensile loads. The standard’s nomenclature covers metric threads from M1.6 to M10. When designing assembly units, it should be taken into account that a 90-degree countersink of the hole is required to ensure flush mounting.
To select fasteners for specific operating conditions (aggressive environments, high temperatures), we recommend contacting EV Group China technical specialists to choose the optimal steel grade or coating.
