Technical features of the DIN 2448 standard
The DIN 2448 standard regulates the geometric parameters and calculated mass values per linear meter for seamless steel pipes. It is important to note that this standard has currently been officially replaced by the harmonized European standard EN 10220. Experts at EV Group China recommend using the current EN 10220 specifications when designing pipeline systems.
The scope of this standard covers seamless pipes manufactured in accordance with the requirements of the supply technical conditions DIN 1629 (parts 1-4), DIN 17172, and DIN 17175. The regulation is also applicable to all types of metal products where technical passports or specifications contain direct references to the DIN 2448 size range.
Key provisions of the standard:
- Defines the nomenclature of seamless steel pipes selected from the international DIN ISO 4200 catalog for the unification of the size range.
- Serves as a basis for determining mass and dimensions when ordering specialized pipe products.
- Important limitation: the requirements of DIN 2448 do not apply to precision steel pipes, for which a separate standard, DIN 2391, is in effect.
