DIN 982: Technical overview of high self-locking nuts with a polymer insert

Attention: The DIN 982 standard has been officially archived and replaced by the current standards DIN EN ISO 7040:2013-04 and DIN EN ISO 10512:2013-05. EV Group China specialists recommend using these standards when designing new assemblies.

Technical features and scope of application

The DIN 982 standard regulates the design parameters of high hexagon nuts equipped with a non-metallic (polymer) clamping insert. This fastener belongs to the category of self-locking (locking) products, ensuring reliable fixation of the threaded connection under dynamic and vibration loads.

Key technical indicators:

  • Range of nominal metric thread diameters: from 5 to 24 mm.
  • Manufacturing precision: grade A for diameters up to 16 mm, grade B for diameters over 16 mm.
  • Fixation type: built-in polymer ring, providing friction during tightening.

In engineering practice, EV Group China notes that if the products need to be operated under specific conditions — at temperatures exceeding +120°C, in aggressive environments, or with special requirements for corrosion resistance, the provisions of the DIN 267-15 standard should be followed. We are ready to provide consultation on the selection of materials and protective coatings according to your technical specifications.
