Technical requirements and scope of DIN 580 eye bolts
The DIN 580 standard defines the design parameters, material requirements, and operating procedures for eye bolts intended for rigging operations. These products are classified as lifting equipment and are used for lifting, moving, and securing heavy components, assemblies, and structures.
The EV Group China engineering department emphasizes that when operating regulations are followed, eye bolts manufactured according to this standard from carbon and stainless steels maintain their strength characteristics within a temperature range of -20°C to +200°C. If these temperature limits are exceeded, load capacity correction factors must be applied.
Operating features
To ensure industrial safety when using rigging eye bolts, the following factors must be considered:
- Full tightening: the threaded part must be tightened firmly until the bearing surface is flush against the load surface.
- Load direction: maximum load-bearing capacity is achieved under axial tension. When using slings at an angle, the product’s load capacity decreases according to the standard’s calculation tables.
- Condition monitoring: before each lifting operation, a visual inspection is required to check for ring deformation, cracks, and wear of the threaded connection.
