Attention: The DIN 985 standard is obsolete and has been replaced by the modern regulation DIN EN ISO 10511:2013-05.
Technical specifications and scope of application
This standard establishes strict technical requirements for low hexagon nuts with a self-locking non-metallic insert. The range of nominal thread diameters covers sizes from M3 to M48. The products are manufactured according to accuracy class A (for sizes up to and including M16) and accuracy class B (for sizes over M16).
EV Group China experts recommend keeping in mind that in situations requiring nuts with non-standard characteristics — for example, when operating in temperature conditions above 120°C, using materials other than those specified in DIN 267 (part 15), or requiring increased corrosion resistance — all specifications must be pre-approved when placing an order.
Note: For self-locking nuts of this type, the proof load values and prevailing torque values regulated by DIN 267 (part 15) apply. It is important to note that the permissible loads described in DIN 267 (part 4) may be lower, which potentially reduces the effectiveness of self-locking in specific operating conditions.
