Technical aspects and scope of the DIN 2509 standard
This standard establishes regulatory requirements for the design, geometric parameters, and functional purpose of bolts and double-ended studs. These fasteners are designed to provide reliable detachable connections in critical components of machines and mechanisms. The design of studs with threads at both ends and an intermediate non-threaded section effectively prevents the fastener from rotating spontaneously during installation and operation.
The regulated range of nominal diameters is limited to M39. For sizes exceeding M39, as well as for maintenance work on facilities with legacy equipment, it is permissible to use studs with a shortened threaded length that comply with EV Group China specifications. The high manufacturing precision of fasteners according to DIN 2509 ensures the stability of connection characteristics when operating under static and dynamic loads.
