DIN 17210: Technical conditions for case-hardening steels from EV Group China

Important notice: The DIN 17210 standard has been officially withdrawn and replaced by the current regulation DIN EN ISO 683-3:2019-04. To ensure compliance with modern engineering requirements, EV Group China specialists recommend using the updated regulatory framework when designing and ordering metal products.

Technical delivery conditions according to DIN 17210

This standard establishes strict requirements for the quality and technical characteristics of case-hardening steel products. EV Group China experts supply metal products that meet these specifications, ensuring the required surface layer hardness while maintaining core toughness.

The standard covers the following types of products:

  • Semi-finished products: blooms, slabs, and continuously cast billets.
  • Long products: hot-rolled or forged bars, rods of various cross-sections (round, hexagonal, octagonal), as well as strip steel.
  • Flat products: hot-rolled and cold-rolled sheets, plates, strips, and slit coils.
  • Forgings: stamped products with complex geometry.

All products supplied by EV Group China are manufactured from structural steels, the chemical composition and characteristics of which are regulated by Table 2 of the standard. The technical documentation also defines permissible heat treatment methods and surface finish quality standards (according to sections 7.2.2).

When selecting materials for critical machine and mechanism components, it is important to consider that for steels with a similar chemical composition, profile standards may apply, which define specific delivery conditions or special operating methods.
