DIN 2616 technical standards: specifications for seamless and welded reducers from EV Group China

Attention: the DIN 2616 standard is obsolete and has been completely replaced by the DIN EN 10253-2:2008-09 and DIN EN 10253-4:2008-06 regulations.

DIN 2616-1 technical regulation: areas of application

This specification covers the technical conditions for the production of seamless and welded eccentric reducers manufactured from various steel grades. A key requirement is that the wall thickness of the fittings must match the wall thickness of the pipes with large nominal diameters being welded.

It is important to note that products manufactured according to this standard are often designed to operate at reduced internal pressure levels (detailed pressure reduction coefficients are presented in Table 2 and Section 4 of the original documentation). EV Group China experts recommend using these transition reducers as reliable pipeline valve elements while strictly adhering to design loads.

Concentric reducers are covered in a separate standard, DIN 2616-2, as they have specific design features. Using Part 1 for concentric products is technologically unjustified.

DIN 2616-2 technical regulation: specifications

The DIN 2616-2 standard establishes strict requirements for the characteristics of seamless and welded concentric and eccentric transition tees made from special steel alloys. The main purpose of these components is to connect welded pipes in systems operating under internal pressure according to the tables and provisions of the standard. All products must comply with the pipe wall thickness regulated in Tables 1 and 2 (see clause 4).
