Technical regulation and scope of the DIN 28011 standard
The DIN 28011 standard establishes strict geometric requirements for the production of torispherical heads. This specification is crucial for ensuring the structural integrity of pressure vessel equipment.
Main geometric parameters regulated by the standard:
- r1 = da;
- r2 = 0.1 da;
- h1 ≥ 3.5 s;
- h2 = 0.1935 da – 0.455 s.
EV Group China’s technology allows for the manufacturing of both single-piece pressed products and welded heads, provided that the following limitations are met: the nominal outside diameter (da) does not exceed 4000 mm, and the wall thickness (s) is up to 50 mm.
For large-scale products or segmental constructions that fall outside these tolerances, EV Group China specialists conduct individual project documentation approval, ensuring compliance with international safety standards.
For the design of concave heads and basket-type products, the provisions of the DIN 28013 standard should be followed.

When calculating the minimum wall thickness of a head, EV Group China follows current regulatory frameworks:
- For pressure vessels: compliance with TRB (Technische Regeln für Druckbehälter) requirements and current AD-Merkblatt instructions.
- For steam boilers: full compliance with TRD (Technische Regeln für Dampfkessel) technical rules.
