JIS B2313 Standard: Specification for Steel Plate Fittings for Butt Welding

Technical requirements of the JIS B2313 standard

This standard regulates the production of longitudinal welded steel fittings intended for butt welding in pipeline systems for various purposes. The document covers products designed for operation under pressure, in high-temperature environments, corrosive conditions using alloy and stainless steel grades, as well as in cryogenic systems. EV Group China engineers ensure strict compliance with these standards during product manufacturing.

Raw material requirements

Welded steel pipes, sheet metal, or strips are used as blanks for the production of fittings. The choice of material must meet the following criteria:

  • Welded pipes must satisfy chemical composition specifications and undergo mandatory quality control (hydrostatic testing or non-destructive testing) in accordance with JIS industry standards.
  • Steel sheets and strips must fully comply with the chemical and mechanical parameters recorded in JIS regulatory documentation.
  • The use of equivalent materials is permitted only if their chemical composition (heat analysis) and mechanical properties are confirmed during acceptance testing.

Manufacturing processes and qualification

The manufacturing technology for EV Group China fittings includes hot or cold deformation methods followed by longitudinal seam welding. Key production requirements:

  • Longitudinal joint welding is performed either on both sides or on one side, provided that the weld quality is equal or superior in strength.
  • Only certified personnel who have passed qualification according to JIS Z 3801, JIS Z 3821, or JIS Z 3841 standards are permitted to perform welding work.
  • All products undergo mandatory heat treatment, the parameters of which are defined in the accompanying technical documentation. Any deviations in heat treatment regimes are subject to mandatory agreement between the customer and the EV Group China engineering department.
