Technical regulations and scope of the API 6D standard
The international API 6D standard establishes rigorous industry requirements for the design, manufacturing processes, non-destructive testing methods, and certification procedures for valves. The scope of the document covers ball valves, gate valves, check valves, and plug valves integrated into oil and gas pipeline systems in accordance with ISO 13623 specifications. It should be noted that the scope of this standard is limited to a nominal pressure rating up to PN 420 (Class 2500). Valves designed for higher pressure parameters require individual engineering and specialized testing that fall outside the scope of this regulation.
