Technical delivery conditions EN 10225:2009 for weldable structural steels for offshore structures
The EN 10225:2009 standard regulates technical requirements for weldable structural steels used in the construction of fixed offshore structures. The specification covers plate up to 150 mm in thickness, sections up to 63 mm, as well as seamless and high-frequency welded structural hollow sections with thicknesses up to 40 mm and 20 mm, respectively. Thickness limitations for various steel grades according to the standard:
- S355G2+N, S355G5+M: up to 20 mm;
- S355G3+N, S355G6+M: up to 40 mm;
- S355G7+N, S355G8+N, S355G9+N, S355G10+N: up to 150 mm;
- S355G7+M, S355G8+M, S355G9+M, S355G10+M: up to 100 mm;
- S420G1+QT, S420G1+M, S420G2+M, S420G2+QT: up to 100 mm;
- S460G1+QT, S460G1+M, S460G2+QT, S460G2+M: up to 100 mm.
This steel is intended for use in offshore environments characterized by low temperatures (e.g., the North Sea area). It is important to note that the standard does not apply to hydrocarbon pipelines, drilling risers, or process equipment. The mechanical properties ensure high toughness at temperatures down to -40°C and yield strength up to 460 MPa.
Delivery conditions according to EN 10225:
- +QT: quenched and tempered condition;
- +M: thermomechanically rolled condition;
- +N: normalized condition, achieved through controlled deformation within a specified temperature range.
