EN ISO 7719: Specification for all-metal prevailing torque type hexagon nuts (classes 5, 8, 10)

Technical description and scope of the EN ISO 7719 standard

The international standard EN ISO 7719 establishes strict requirements for the geometric parameters and mechanical characteristics of all-metal prevailing torque type hexagon nuts. This fastener is intended for use in critical threaded connections subject to vibration loads, where preventing spontaneous loosening is crucial.

The technical specifications cover products with metric threads ranging from M5 to M36. The accuracy class classification is regulated as follows: products with a nominal thread diameter up to M16 correspond to accuracy class A, and for diameters above M16, to accuracy class B. Available material strength classes are 5, 8, and 10.

Important design note: the overall dimensions of these fasteners are fully unified with the ISO 4032 standard, with the exception of the maximum product height parameter, which is adapted to ensure the self-locking function. When designing assemblies using these fasteners, EV Group China engineers recommend considering the provisions of related standards:

  • ISO 261 and ISO 724 — for determining metric thread profiles;
  • ISO 898-2 — for controlling mechanical properties and load testing;
  • ISO 965-2 — for compliance with thread tolerance fields;
  • ISO 2320 — for evaluating the effectiveness of self-locking properties;
  • ISO 4759-1 — for checking fastener dimensional tolerances.
