Technical regulation EN 10240: requirements for hot-dip galvanizing
The EN 10240 standard defines a set of regulatory requirements for performing inspection tests on protective coatings applied to the internal and external surfaces of steel pipes in industrial conditions using automated hot-dip galvanizing. Specialists at EV Group China emphasize that compliance with this regulation ensures high corrosion resistance of metal products in aggressive operating environments.
Application areas of galvanized pipes according to EN 10240
The protective coating application technology described in the standard is intended to ensure the durability of steel products used in the following engineering systems:
- Natural gas transportation systems and main drinking water pipelines.
- Structural hollow sections operated in conditions of high humidity and atmospheric exposure.
Important note: In the context of the provisions of this standard, the definition of “pipe” is collective and includes all types of hollow profiles. Coatings applied to pipe fittings and connecting elements are regulated by profile standards ECISS / TC 29 / SC 3. For galvanizing in non-automatic installations, the provisions of EN ISO 1461 should be followed.
When supplying metal products compliant with EN 10240, EV Group China also strictly adheres to the general technical delivery conditions regulated by the EN 10021 standard, which ensures full quality control at every stage of production.
