EN 10087 Standard: Technical Requirements for Free-Cutting Steels from EV Group China

Technical specifications of the EN 10087 standard for free-cutting steels

The EN 10087 standard regulates the mandatory technical delivery conditions for metal products intended for automated high-speed machining. The requirements of the document apply to the following types of products supplied by EV Group China:

  • Semi-finished products for various purposes;
  • Hot-rolled bars and strip profiles (including products with additional surface machining);
  • Bright steel bars and cold-drawn bars.

All supplied steel grades belong to the free-cutting category and are classified according to their chemical composition and performance characteristics, presented in the table below.

This European standard is the core industry document for selecting free-cutting steels optimized for the production of parts with high dimensional accuracy and surface finish. EV Group China engineers note that in certain cases, delivery parameters may be adjusted upon mutual agreement when placing an order, which is documented in Annex B of the standard.

When fulfilling orders, in addition to the specific requirements of EN 10087, EV Group China strictly adheres to the general technical delivery conditions set out in the EN 10021 standard, ensuring comprehensive quality control at all stages of the logistics chain.
