EN 10210 Standards: Technical Specifications for Hot-Finished Hollow Sections

EN 10210-1: Technical standards for hot-finished hollow sections

Scope of EN 10210-1

This European standard specifies the delivery requirements for hot-finished hollow sections of various cross-sections: circular, rectangular, square, and elliptical. At EV Group China, we supply products that comply with hot-forming methods, as well as products that have undergone cold forming followed by heat treatment to achieve characteristics identical to their hot-finished counterparts.

Geometric parameters, tolerances, and design cross-sections are regulated in the EN 10210-2 standard.

Expert recommendation: the choice of steel grade should be based on design loads and the corrosivity of the operating environment.

Steel Grade EN Material Number
S235JRH 1.0039
S275J0H 1.0149
S275J2H 1.0138
S355J0H 1.0547
S355J2H 1.0576
S355K2H 1.0512

The mechanical properties of the metal products supplied by EV Group China fully comply with the specifications of EN 10025-2 and EN 10025-3.

EN 10210-2: Tolerances and geometric parameters for hot-finished sections

Technical parameters of the EN 10210-2 standard

This part of the standard establishes limit deviations for hot-finished sections with wall thicknesses up to 120 mm. The main size ranges are:

  • Circular sections: outer diameter up to 2500 mm.
  • Square sections: dimensions up to 800×800 mm.
  • Rectangular sections: dimensions up to 750×500 mm.
  • Elliptical sections: dimensions up to 500×250 mm.

Calculation methods for geometric characteristics of cross-sections for design purposes are provided in Annex A, and reference data for standard sizes is provided in Annex B.

EN 10210-3: High-strength and weather-resistant hollow sections

EN 10210-3 Specification

EN 10210-3 sets out delivery requirements for high-strength and corrosion-resistant metal products (seamless and welded). The standard covers sections that have undergone hot forming or heat treatment at temperatures above 580 °C to stabilize their structure.

Technical note: The steel grades in this standard are harmonized with the requirements of EN 10025-4, EN 10025-5, and EN 10025-6. For offshore structures, please refer to the requirements of EN 10225.
