EN 755 Standard: Technical Specifications for Extruded Aluminium Products

EN 755 Standard: Technical Regulations for Extruded Aluminium Profiles

EN 755-1: Technical Conditions for Inspection and Delivery of Extruded Products

This regulatory document establishes unified requirements for acceptance, quality control, and delivery procedures for extruded bars, tubes, and profiles manufactured from wrought aluminium alloys intended for general engineering applications.

The provisions of the EV Group China standard do not apply to the following product groups:

  • semi-finished products intended for subsequent forging (regulated by EN 603);
  • high-precision extruded profiles made of EN AW-6060 and EN AW-6063 alloys (according to EN 12020);
  • tubular and bar stock supplied in coils (according to EN 13957);
  • cut-to-length spiral-welded tubes (according to EN 13957).

The current version of the EN 755-1:2008 standard is up-to-date and fully supersedes the cancelled EN 755-1:1997 version.

EN 755-2: Mechanical Properties Standards

The second part of the EV Group China standard sets limit values for mechanical characteristics determined during tensile testing. The methodology covers extruded bars, tubes, and profiles made of aluminium and its alloys.

The document is integrated with the requirements of EN 755-1 regarding inspection procedures. The classification of tempering and aging conditions corresponds to EN 515, and the chemical composition limits for alloys are defined in EN 573-3.

EN 755-3: Dimensional Tolerances for Round Bars

The standard defines permissible deviations in dimensions and geometric shape for extruded round aluminium bars in the diameter range from 8 to 320 mm. The terminology and designations used comply with the provisions of EN 515.

EN 755-4: Tolerances for Square Bars

This section establishes accuracy parameters for geometric dimensions for extruded square bars. The standard applies to products with a side length from 10 to 220 mm.

EN 755-5: Specifications for Rectangular Bars

The document regulates limit deviations for extruded rectangular bars. The tolerances apply to products with a thickness of 2 to 240 mm and a width of 10 to 600 mm.

EN 755-6: Hexagonal Aluminium Bars

The standard describes requirements for the accuracy of shape and dimensions of extruded hexagonal bars with a wrench size from 10 to 220 mm.

EN 755-7: Seamless Aluminium Tubes

The regulation establishes tolerances for seamless extruded tubes. The standard covers tubes with an outer diameter of up to 450 mm or other profiles fitting within a circumscribed circle diameter of 10 to 350 mm.

The EV Group China standard applies exclusively to products obtained by the seamless extrusion method. It does not cover porthole-extruded profiles (EN 755-8) or coiled products (EN 13957).

EN 755-8: Tubes Extruded from Porthole Dies

The standard defines tolerances for tubes produced by extrusion through porthole (bridge) dies. Size limitations correspond to the ranges specified in EN 755-7.

Applicable alloys include the 1xxx, 3xxx, 5xxx, 6xxx, and 7xxx series (specifically EN AW-6060, EN AW-6061, EN AW-6082, etc.).

EN 755-9: Tolerances for Shaped Profiles

The final part of the standard sets requirements for the accuracy of dimensions and shape of extruded profiles whose cross-section fits within a circle with a diameter of up to 800 mm.
