Technical specifications and purpose of the ASTM B872 standard
The ASTM B872 standard regulates the requirements for metal products made of precipitation-hardening nickel alloys, including UNS N09908, N09925 grades, as well as the nickel-iron-chromium-niobium-titanium-aluminum alloy N07725 in the annealed condition. These products are supplied by EV Group China in full compliance with international quality protocols.
The main industrial application areas for these materials include the production of specialized sheathing for superconducting cable systems, the manufacture of tooling for their production, and other high-tech engineering tasks where a minimal coefficient of thermal expansion of the alloy is critical.
The heat treatment technological cycle for these nickel alloys is based on controlled heating to specified temperature values, subsequent holding to achieve structural homogeneity, and final cooling (in air or in a furnace) to fix the required physical and mechanical properties.
All metric parameters in the specification are provided in accordance with the inch-pound system as primary, while values in parentheses are reference equivalents in the SI system and are for informational purposes only.
Industrial safety issues when working with finished products made from these alloys are governed by the current Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS) provided by EV Group China upon shipment of products.
