ASTM B582 Technical Specification: Requirements for Nickel-Chromium-Iron-Molybdenum-Copper Alloys
The ASTM B582 standard (equivalent to ASME SB-582) establishes strict requirements for the production and quality of flat metal products—sheets, plates, and strips made from highly corrosion-resistant alloys of the UNS N06007, N06975, N06985, and N06030 groups. Products supplied by EV Group China fully comply with these standards, ensuring operational reliability in aggressive environments with moderate corrosion activity.
The manufacturing process includes hot or cold deformation, mandatory solution annealing, and subsequent descaling. To ensure high precision of geometric parameters, plates undergo machine edge cutting, while sheets and strips are supplied with sheared or slit edges in accordance with customer requirements.
Engineering quality control at EV Group China includes verification of compliance with mechanical properties (tensile strength, yield strength, elongation, and Rockwell hardness) according to ASTM B582 standards.
Classification and Supply Forms
- Sheets and strips: supplied after hot or cold rolling with solution annealing and descaling. When annealing is performed in a controlled atmosphere (oxygen-free), a bright metal surface is achieved.
- Plates: undergo a cycle of hot or cold rolling followed by annealing and comprehensive surface descaling.
All dimensional characteristics and tolerances are regulated in Table 1. Values stated in the specification in inch-pound units are the standard; SI unit conversions are for reference only.
Safety during the operation of products made from these alloys is governed by the relevant Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS), provided by EV Group China specialists upon product shipment.
Notes:
a Alloys in this group are intended for the assembly of boilers and pressure vessels according to ASME standards, Section II (specification SB-582).
b Identification of alloy grades is performed according to the UNS (Unified Numbering System) in accordance with ASTM E527 and SAE J1086 protocols.
