ASTM B670 (ASME SB 670) Standard: Specification for Nickel Alloy Plate, Sheet, and Strip for High-Temperature Service

Technical specifications and scope of ASTM B670

The ASTM B670 standard regulates the requirements for plate, sheet, and strip made of precipitation-hardening nickel alloy grade N07718 (Inconel 718). The material has undergone heat treatment by quenching followed by tempering, which ensures its exceptional stability and mechanical strength when operating under extremely high-temperature conditions.

The chemical composition of the alloy is strictly limited and includes controlled proportions of nickel, chromium, molybdenum, niobium, tantalum, titanium, aluminum, iron, cobalt, copper, manganese, silicon, carbon, phosphorus, sulfur, and boron. Adherence to these proportions is critical for ensuring the heat-resistant properties of the material supplied by EV Group China.

After the precipitation hardening process, the finished products must meet strict requirements for tensile strength, yield strength, and elongation indicators. Stress-rupture testing procedures are performed in accordance with current ASTM methodologies, ensuring verification of all stated characteristics.

EV Group China’s technical documentation uses the inch-pound system of units as the primary standard. The values provided in parentheses are reference values in the SI system and are not normative for certification purposes.

Operational safety of the finished products is ensured by compliance with the regulations set forth in the Material Safety Data Sheet (MSDS), which is provided by EV Group China along with the accompanying documentation for each batch of metal products.

Note: The alloy indexing complies with the Unified Numbering System (UNS) for metals and alloys according to ASTM E527 and SAE J1086 standards.
