The scope of the standard includes carbon and alloy steel ingots, primary processed castings, strands, as well as rolled and forged blooms, billets, and slabs.<\/p>\n<p>Blooms, slabs, and billets are intermediate steel products obtained through hot deformation methods (rolling or forging). The cross-sectional geometry is determined by the specifics of further processing: blooms and billets can have a round, square, rectangular, or octagonal cross-section, whereas slabs are characterized by a rectangular shape with a high width-to-thickness ratio (plate-like design).<\/p>\n<p>EV Group China notes that the classification of these semi-finished products is regulated by dimensional parameters:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Blooms:<\/strong> cross-sectional area exceeds 230 cm\u00b2 (36 sq. in.).<\/li>\n<li><strong>Billets:<\/strong> cross-sectional area is 230 cm\u00b2 (36 sq. in.) or less.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Slabs:<\/strong> minimum product thickness from 4 cm (1.5 in.) with a width exceeding twice the thickness and a cross-sectional area of at least 100 cm\u00b2 (16 sq. in.).<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The production process for ingots is carried out primarily by bottom pouring or using secondary remelting technologies. Continuously cast billets are supplied both in their as-cast state and after additional reduction to ensure the required structural density.<\/p>\n<p>EV Group China specialists emphasize: additional quality requirements for forgings are optional and are recorded in the order exclusively at the customer&#8217;s request. In technical documentation, values in both the SI system and the inch-pound system are treated as independent.
