DIN 2627 Welding Neck Flanges: Specifications and Modern Analogues

Technical specifications and application of DIN 2627 flanges

The DIN 2627 standard defines the design parameters and technical requirements for welding neck flanges designed for operation at extreme nominal pressure PN 400 (400 kgf/cm²). This nomenclature covers a range of nominal diameters from DN 10 to DN 200.

Structurally, the product acts as a connecting element for pipeline systems, pressure vessels, and pumping and compressor equipment. The flange consists of a disc with holes for fasteners and a tapered neck (hub), which ensures a smooth cross-sectional transition and high strength of the weld seam during butt welding.

The technical documentation of the standard regulates the product geometry, physical and mechanical properties of materials, requirements for sealing surface finishing, and weight and dimensional indicators. Manufacturing processes, acceptance protocols, and product marking are based on DIN 2519 standards, and the selection of contact surface geometry is carried out in accordance with DIN 2526.

Steel grades used

  • Corrosion-resistant (stainless) steels.
  • Carbon structural steels.
  • Low-alloy and high-alloy steels.
  • Heat-resistant grades for operation under high-temperature loads.

Important note: The DIN 2627 standard is currently classified as archived. Today, the design and manufacturing of this type of flange are carried out in strict accordance with the current international standard DIN EN 1092-1 (type 11B).
