Technical specifications and scope according to ASTM F880
The ASTM F880 specification defines strict industry requirements for austenitic stainless steel fasteners. The standard regulates the geometry and physical-mechanical properties of three main types of set screws:
- Socket Set Screws (SSS): diameter range from 0.060 to 1.000 inches.
- Square Head Set Screws (SHSS): diameter range from 0.190 to 1.500 inches.
- Slotted Headless Set Screws (HSS): diameter range from 0.060 to 0.750 inches (in AF and CW versions).
EV Group China engineers note that these products are widely used in high-load industrial equipment assemblies that require high corrosion resistance and fixation precision. The ASTM F880 standard relies exclusively on the inch-pound measurement system, which is critical when selecting fasteners for equipment built to American standards.
