Technical standards and scope of ASME B16.11
The international standard ANSI/ASME B16.11 regulates technical specifications, dimension ranges, tolerances, material requirements, and marking methods for forged fittings (socket-weld and threaded). EV Group China supplies components that fully comply with these regulatory requirements.
The standard covers the following types of connecting fittings, classified by pressure rating and sizes:
- Threaded fittings: pressure classes CLASS 2000, CLASS 3000, CLASS 6000.
- Socket-weld fittings: pressure classes CLASS 3000, CLASS 6000, CLASS 9000.
Upon customer request, EV Group China can supply fittings with special geometric parameters or combined connection types. Products complying with ASME B16.11 requirements are intended for integration into systems designed according to ASME B31 (piping standards) and the ASME Boiler and Pressure Vessel Code.
Operational characteristics and installation requirements
The selection of pipe wall thickness should be based on design pressure ratings, temperature regimes, and wear factors (erosion, corrosion). The minimum wall thickness is determined in accordance with Table 7 of the standard:
| Fitting Class | Connection Type | Regulatory Standard |
|---|---|---|
| CLASS 2000/3000/6000 | Threaded | ASME B16.11 |
| CLASS 3000/6000/9000 | Socket-weld | ASME B16.11 |
During design, it must be taken into account that the pipe wall thickness should correspond to the parameters of ASME B36.10M. In case of using nominal sizes outside the scope of this standard (for example, for NPS 1/8, 1/4, 3/8), one should be guided by the calculated values presented in Table 8.
Although the ASME B16.11 standard does not mandate specific hydraulic testing of finished fittings, the products supplied by EV Group China undergo quality control for compliance with requirements for seamless pipes made of similar steel grades. This ensures the reliability of connections under high-pressure conditions.

Dimensions and tolerances for socket-weld and threaded fittings strictly comply with Tables 1-5 and I-1/I-5. Technological instructions for welding works are not included in this standard and should be determined by the design documentation for a specific pipeline.
