Technical standards and scope of API 608
The international standard API 608 regulates the design and operational requirements for metal ball valves intended for integration into systems for transporting oil, petroleum products, and corrosive industrial media. EV Group China provides supply of shut-off valves that fully comply with these regulatory criteria.
- Flanged ends: DN 15 – DN 600 (NPS 1/2 – NPS 24).
- Butt-welding: DN 15 – DN 600 (NPS 1/2 – NPS 24).
- Socket-welding: DN 8 – DN 50 (NPS 1/4 – NPS 2).
- Threaded ends: DN 8 – DN 50 (NPS 1/4 – NPS 2).
The geometric parameters of the products are strictly aligned with the nominal pipeline dimensions according to the ASME B36.10M standard.
Classification by nominal pressure
EV Group China supplies ball valves designed for operation in the following pressure ranges:
- Flanged and butt-welded design: classes 150, 300, 600.
- Socket-welded and threaded connections: classes 150, 300, 600, 800.
Design features and port configurations
The standard defines requirements for port configurations, ensuring optimal hydraulic characteristics:
- Full port design.
- Standard reduced port.
- Double (two-stage) reduced port.
Technical specifications cover both floating ball and trunnion-mounted ball designs. The examples provided in industry diagrams (see Fig. B.1 and B.2) serve as a basic nomenclature of assemblies and do not limit the variety of engineering solutions for specific industrial tasks.

The products offered by EV Group China complement the requirements of the ASME B16.34 standard, ensuring increased reliability and tightness of shut-off valves under critical operating conditions.
