The ASTM A179 standard (and its equivalent, ASME SA 179) regulates the production of high-quality seamless cold-drawn low-carbon steel tubes. Technical specifications cover an outside diameter range from 1/8 to 3.0 inches (from 3.2 to 76.2 mm). Strict control of the cold-drawing process ensures precision in geometric parameters and uniformity of the metal structure, which is critical for the reliability of heat exchange systems.
Technical note: Upon individual request, EV Group China supplies tubes with parameters outside the standard range. The mechanical characteristics described in the specification do not apply to products with an outside diameter of less than 1/8 inch (3.2 mm) or a wall thickness of less than 0.015 inch (0.4 mm).
When designing systems, it must be considered that the values provided in the SI system and the inch-pound system are independent standards. To avoid calculation errors and ensure compliance with safety requirements, combining data from different measurement systems when designing heat exchange units is not permitted.
