ASTM A182 / ASME SA 182 Standard: technical requirements for forged flanges and fittings for high-temperature systems

Technical features of the ASTM A182 / ASME SA 182 standard

The ASTM A182 / A182M standard (identical to ASME SA 182 / SA 182M) regulates requirements for forged and rolled products used in high-pressure piping systems. This specification covers a wide range of components: flanges, fittings, valves, and parts for assemblies operating under high-temperature loads. EV Group China provides metal products that strictly comply with these standards, ensuring high performance in aggressive environments.

Materials and chemical composition

The specification includes alloy steels and various types of stainless steels, including austenitic, ferritic, and martensitic grades. Material selection according to ASTM A182 is determined by design pressure, operating temperature, and corrosion resistance requirements. EV Group China performs strict incoming quality control of supplied metal products for compliance with chemical composition and mechanical properties established in the standard tables.

Scope of application of components

Products manufactured according to the ASTM A182 standard are used in critical industries:

  • Oil and gas industry: equipment for raw material processing and energy resource transportation.
  • Energy sector: elements of steam boilers and high-pressure pipelines.
  • Chemical production: units in contact with corrosive reagents.
Steel class Typical grades (examples) Characteristics
Stainless steel F304, F316, F321 High oxidation resistance at temperatures up to 800°C
Alloy steel F11, F22, F91 Strength assurance during cyclic heating

The engineering department of EV Group China recommends performing calculations taking into account the coefficients of thermal expansion specific to each steel grade specified in ASTM A182. We supply certified products ready for installation at mission-critical facilities.
