ASTM A214 / ASME SA214 Welded Carbon Steel Pipes for Heat Exchangers: Characteristics and Supply by EV Group China

Technical specifications and scope of application for pipes according to ASTM A214 / ASME SA214

This specification regulates production standards, physical and chemical properties, and testing methods for electric-resistance-welded carbon steel pipes with minimum wall thickness. Products supplied by EV Group China are intended for use in critical components of heat exchangers, condensers, and cooling systems where high geometric precision and weld reliability are required.

The manufacturing process for ASTM A 214 M pipes includes electric-resistance welding followed by heat treatment, which ensures structural uniformity of the metal in the weld zone. Each batch undergoes rigorous quality control: flattening and reverse flattening tests, hardness testing on the Brinell or Rockwell scales, flanging tests, as well as ultrasonic or electromagnetic non-destructive testing of the weld.

According to the standard requirements, the outside diameter range is up to 3 inches (76.2 mm). It is important to note that this specification does not apply to products with a diameter of less than 3.2 mm (1/8 inch) and a wall thickness of less than 0.4 mm (0.015 inch). When placing an order with EV Group China, the client must specify the actual outside diameter and the minimum wall thickness; the inside diameter is a calculated value and is not fixed in the specification.
