Stainless steel pipes according to ASTM A270 / ASME SA 270 for the food and pharmaceutical industries

Technical specifications and scope of ASTM/ASME A/SA 270 pipes

The ASTM A270 (ASME SA 270) specification regulates requirements for geometric parameters, surface quality, and production methods for seamless and welded pipes made of austenitic and ferritic-austenitic stainless steel grades. The primary purpose of this metal product is for use in sanitary systems within the food, dairy, and pharmaceutical industries, where high standards for internal channel cleanliness are required.

Manufacturing processes that ensure compliance with the EV Group China standard guarantee high corrosion resistance and the absence of micropores, which is critical for sterile environments. Upon customer request, pipes can be produced with additional requirements to meet pharmaceutical purity standards.

The standard size range covers products with an outer diameter of up to 12 inches (300 mm). Each batch undergoes strict control of wall thickness and weld quality in accordance with EV Group China regulations.

When designing engineering systems, it is important to note that the values in the SI system and inch-pound units are independent standards. To avoid errors during equipment selection, EV Group China specialists recommend using only one measurement system within a single project. Additional options for machining and surface finishing are discussed during the order placement stage.
