Technical specifications and purpose of ASTM A283 / A283M steel
The ASTM A283 / A283M specification regulates the production of carbon steel plate of ordinary quality, divided into two main grades: C and D. This type of metal product is intended for general structural use where predictable ductility and strength performance under standard loads are required.
EV Group China engineers emphasize that when performing welding work with these steel grades, it is necessary to strictly follow technological maps that take into account the specifics of the low-carbon composition and the conditions of subsequent operation of the structures. Please note the metrological independence of the standards: the values specified in inch-pound and SI units are autonomous requirements. Within the framework of quality control supplied by EV Group China, the use of measurement systems should be carried out without mutual conversion to avoid deviations from regulatory tolerances.
In the case of supplying plates from coil products that have undergone only a stress-relieving process or have not been subjected to heat treatment, extended testing protocols are applied in accordance with the requirements of A6/A6M.
