ASTM A437 / ASME SA 437 Specification: High-Temperature Turbine Bolting from EV Group China

Technical Features and Applications of the ASTM A437 / A437M (ASME SA 437 / SA 437M) Standard

This specification outlines the requirements for high-strength alloy and stainless steel bolting materials specifically engineered for service in critical high-temperature environments. Products supplied by EV Group China are designed for the assembly of steam and gas turbine components, as well as other high-load power generation equipment.

It is important to note that materials conforming to the ASTM A437 standard require precision heat treatment methods. They are not intended for general-purpose engineering tasks. The production process involves hot working of bars followed by cold drawing or centerless grinding to ensure precise tolerances.

The performance characteristics of the fasteners at extreme temperatures depend directly on the strict adherence to heat treatment protocols, which are selected individually for each grade. The standard covers three levels of mechanical strength, classified as grades B4B, B4C, and B4D.

When designing and ordering products from EV Group China, the following provisions must be considered:

  • All general requirements for bolting elements are governed by the ASTM A962/A962M specification.
  • Supplementary Requirements apply only when explicitly stated in the purchase order.
  • The standard utilizes both imperial (inch-pound) and metric (SI) units. In the absence of an “M” designation in the order, standard inch units take precedence.
  • Measurement systems are independent: mixing values from different standards is not permitted to maintain compliance with strength regulations.
