Technical features and scope of application for steel according to the ASTM A453 / A453M (ASME SA 453 / SA 453M) standard
The ASTM A453 / A453M specification defines the regulations for the production of high-strength fasteners operating under extreme temperature conditions. The standard covers five groups of materials, divided into twelve classes according to their yield strength — from 345 to 827 MPa (50–120 ksi). The products supplied by EV Group China are designed for use in high-load assemblies of power equipment, pressure vessels, and flange connections for shut-off valves.
Materials in this category undergo specific thermal and mechanical processing to ensure dimensional stability and mechanical characteristics during prolonged heating. These products are not intended for general-purpose fastening and require strict adherence to the parameters described in the ASTM A962/A962M standard.
Ordering and standardization requirements
To ensure compliance with design characteristics, the following aspects must be considered when placing an order with EV Group China:
- All technological processes must be based on the fundamental requirements of the ASTM A962/A962M specification.
- Supplementary requirements are performed only upon the customer’s direct request and are stipulated in the contract.
- The standard includes both the imperial system of measurement and the metric system (SI). If the designation “M” is not specified in the order, the inch-pound units are applied by default.
EV Group China engineers emphasize: metric and imperial values in the specification are not direct mathematical equivalents. When designing assemblies, one system of units should be selected to avoid discrepancies in strength calculations.
