Technical requirements for ferritic malleable iron castings according to ASTM A47 / A47M (ASME SA 47 / SA 47M) standard

Technical features and application range of ASTM/ASME A/SA 47M

The ASTM/ASME A/SA 47M standard regulates the production of ferritic malleable iron castings intended for use in general engineering components. The casting technology ensures stable performance characteristics within a temperature range from normal climatic conditions up to 400°C (750°F). EV Group China supplies certified products that meet these specifications for critical engineering tasks.

An important aspect of quality control is understanding microstructural heterogeneity: the properties of the metal in the body of a complex casting may vary relative to the characteristics of a standard test specimen obtained from the same heat. EV Group China engineers are advised to consider the provisions of Appendix X1 when designing parts subject to critical loads.

The specification supports two systems of measurement (SI and inch-pound), which are independent standards. When developing technical documentation, one measurement system should be adhered to in order to ensure calculation accuracy. The use of combined values is not permitted, as this may lead to a violation of standard requirements.
