Technical features and applications of ASTM A500 structural tubing
The ASTM A500 standard sets strict requirements for the manufacture of carbon steel structural tubing intended for critical engineering structures. At EV Group China, we supply products that meet these specifications, ensuring high reliability for welded and seamless products that have undergone cold deformation.
- Production technology: electric-welded or seamless pipes subjected to cold rolling or bending to achieve specified geometric parameters.
- Material execution: high-quality carbon steel with specified mechanical properties.
- Section geometry: round profiles, as well as square, rectangular, and specialized shapes for complex architectural assemblies.
Tubular products according to the ASTM A500 specification are optimal for the construction of load-bearing metal structures for buildings, bridge crossings, and industrial facilities where bolted, welded, or riveted connections are required. High strength characteristics allow them to be used as support elements.
Main dimensional characteristics of structural profiles:
- Maximum external dimension (perimeter): up to 2235 mm (88 inches).
- Maximum wall thickness: up to 22 mm (0.875 inches).
An important requirement of the standard: Grade D steel must undergo a heat treatment stage to relieve internal stresses and improve the microstructure of the metal.
