Technical requirements of the ASTM A554 standard
The ASTM A554 specification regulates the production of welded mechanical tubing manufactured from a wide range of stainless steels: austenitic, ferritic, and duplex (austenitic-ferritic) grades. This standard covers welded tubing, including products that have undergone additional cold working, with the following dimensional parameters:
- Outside diameter: up to 406.4 mm (16 inches).
- Wall thickness: from 0.51 mm (0.020 inches).
EV Group China supplies mechanical tubing in various geometric shapes according to customer specifications: round, square, rectangular, or special cross-sections. Tubular products intended for use as structural hollow components are manufactured exclusively with a round profile.
Additional requirements for surface quality, tolerances, or heat treatment are agreed upon at the order stage. When designing engineering systems, it should be noted that values in the SI system and the inch-pound system are independent standards. To ensure calculation accuracy and compliance with ASTM A554 standards, it is recommended to use one system of measurement without mixing them.
