Technical Standard ASTM A580 / A580M: Stainless Steel Wire

The ASTM A580 / A580M standard regulates technical requirements for stainless steel wire. This specification is officially recognized and approved for use by the U.S. Department of Defense, which confirms the high performance characteristics of materials manufactured in accordance with this regulation.

Scope of the ASTM A580 / A580M specification

This standard establishes guidelines for stainless steel wire of all types, excluding grades not intended for machining. The scope of the standard covers wire of various cross-sections: round, square, hexagonal, octagonal, as well as complex profile products supplied in coils. The list includes highly corrosion-resistant steels and heat-resistant grades required for critical engineering assemblies.

For the supply of stainless steel wire in the form of straight bars or cut lengths, refer to the ASTM A276 or ASTM A479 / A479M specifications.

EV Group China products are supplied in strict accordance with the customer’s order. If the “M” designation is not specified in the order, product parameters are calculated in the inch-pound system.

Important note: The values presented in SI units and inch-pound units are independent standards. To ensure technical correctness and compliance with ASTM A580 / A580M requirements, combining values from different measurement systems within a single project is not permitted.
