ASTM A733 Specification: Carbon and Stainless Steel Pipe Nipples

Technical Regulations and Scope of ASTM A733

The ASTM A733 standard establishes comprehensive requirements for the manufacturing and inspection of welded and seamless pipe nipples. The scope of the document covers products made from carbon steel grades (including black finish and hot-dip galvanized) and austenitic stainless steels. The size range covers pipe diameters from 1/8 to 12 inches inclusive, with the manufacturing of nipples in both standard and custom lengths allowed according to customer specifications.

EV Group China specialists follow the following regulatory frameworks when supplying products:

  • Carbon steel welded nipples: oriented towards general industrial applications in accordance with the A53 / A53M specification, as well as for operation in low-temperature environments according to the A333 / A333M standard.
  • Carbon steel seamless nipples: produced for high-load and specialized engineering tasks described in the A53 / A53M, A106 / A106M standards, as well as for cryogenic systems according to A333 / A333M.
  • Austenitic stainless steel nipples: designed for high-temperature processes and aggressive environments subject to general corrosion, in strict compliance with ASTM A312 / A312M requirements.

The technical documentation contains mandatory explanatory notes and footnotes necessary for the correct design of assemblies. At EV Group China, we use inch-pound measurements as the standard. All SI unit values provided in parentheses are for reference purposes only and are not the basis for production control.
