Ferritic-austenitic steel pipes according to ASTM A949 / ASME SA 949 standard from EV Group China

Technical features and application of the ASTM/ASME A/SA 949 standard

The ASTM/ASME A/SA 949 specification establishes strict industry requirements for the production of pipes made of duplex (ferritic-austenitic) stainless steels manufactured by centrifugal casting. Products supplied by EV Group China are designed for operation in environments with a high risk of corrosion. Particular attention in this standard is paid to the control of the microstructure to minimize the risk of embrittlement, which can occur during prolonged thermal exposure during operation.

Additional options and compliance with standards

To implement complex engineering tasks, EV Group China offers the supply of pipes taking into account optional requirements, which must be agreed upon in advance at the ordering stage.

The dimensional grid of seamless pipes complies with the ANSI B36.19 regulation (details are presented in Appendix X1). If requested by the customer, EV Group China can ensure the production of pipes with non-standard geometric parameters, provided that all other physical and mechanical indicators provided for by the A949 specification are strictly met.

When designing, it is important to consider that the values given in the SI and inch-pound systems are independent standards. To avoid calculation errors, it is recommended to use one system of measurements within a single project. If the order specification does not contain the “M” designation, the inch-pound dimensions are considered priority.

Technical note: the concept of NPS (Nominal Pipe Size) in the current version of the standard has been replaced by the terminology “nominal diameter” or “pipe size”.
