ASTM B464 / ASME SB 464 Specification: Welded Pipes Made of UNS N08020 Alloy

Technical aspects and scope of the ASTM B464 standard

The ASTM B464 specification (and its equivalent ASME SB 464) establishes strict requirements for the production, geometric parameters, inspection methods, and performance characteristics of welded pipes manufactured from the corrosion-resistant UNS N08020 alloy. Products supplied by EV Group China are intended for critical engineering systems operating across a wide temperature range and in environments exposed to aggressive chemical media.

The standard covers welded pipes with a nominal diameter up to and including NPS 6 (168 mm). Permissible wall thickness values correspond to schedules 5S, 10S, and 40S. For sizes up to NPS 2 (60 mm), wall thickness parameters are regulated according to schedule 80S.

Geometric characteristics and tolerances are based on the provisions of specification B775 and Table A1 of the ANSI B36.19 standard. EV Group China ensures the supply of pipes both in standard sizes and according to individual customer requirements, provided that all technical regulations of the ASTM B464 standard are met.

When designing, it is important to consider that the values stated in the SI system and the inch-pound system are independent standards. Technological calculations must be performed strictly within one of the systems of measurement to avoid errors arising from the conversion of values.

Issues of industrial safety and regulations for the operation of finished products are outside the scope of this standard. It is recommended to consult the current Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS) from the manufacturer, provided by EV Group China upon shipment of the products.
