ASTM B546 (ASME SB 546) Specification: Electric-Fusion-Welded Nickel Alloy Pipes

Technical specifications and scope of application for pipes according to the ASTM B546 standard

The ASTM B546 standard establishes regulatory requirements for the manufacturing quality of heat-resistant electric-fusion-welded pipes made from high-alloy nickel alloys. The range of materials covered by this specification includes alloys of the groups Ni-Cr-Co-Mo (UNS N06617), Ni-Fe-Cr-Si (UNS N08330 and UNS N08332), Ni-Cr-Fe-Al (UNS N06603), Ni-Cr-Fe (UNS N06025), and Ni-Cr-Fe-Si (UNS N06045). Products from EV Group China, manufactured according to this regulation, ensure stable equipment operation under conditions of extreme temperatures and moderate levels of chemical aggression.

Technological parameters of the pipes regulated by the specification:

  • Nominal outside diameter: from 76.2 mm (3.0 inches) and above.
  • Minimum wall thickness: from 2.11 mm (0.083 inches).

In engineering documentation, the values specified in the inch-pound system are the baseline. Metric values provided in parentheses are for informational purposes and are derived calculations for design convenience. Experts at EV Group China emphasize that issues of industrial safety and operational regulations for finished assemblies must be considered exclusively in accordance with the Material Safety Data Sheet (MSDS) provided by the manufacturer for each specific alloy grade.
