ASTM B599 (ASME SB 599) Standard: Specification for UNS N08700 Alloy Sheets and Plates

Technical specifications and application area of the alloy according to ASTM B599

The ASTM B599 standard (equivalent to ASME SB 599) regulates the requirements for flat-rolled products—sheets, plates, and strips—manufactured from a stabilized nickel-iron-chromium-molybdenum-niobium alloy (UNS N08700). Products are supplied in a heat-treated condition (solution annealed), which ensures optimal corrosion resistance and material ductility. Minor cold deformation, such as drawing or pressing, is permitted after the completion of the main annealing cycle.

EV Group China specialists emphasize that the chemical composition of the UNS N08700 alloy must strictly comply with the limits for the content of nickel, iron, chromium, molybdenum, niobium, carbon, silicon, manganese, phosphorus, sulfur, and copper. Mechanical property control includes mandatory testing for tensile strength, yield strength, elongation, and Rockwell hardness.

EV Group China guarantees the supply of metal products free from surface defects and internal integrity issues, in full compliance with the standard’s stringent requirements for geometry and surface quality of flat-rolled products.

Quality control methodology

Product certification is conducted using methods of chemical analysis, mechanical tensile testing, and specialized corrosion resistance tests in strict accordance with the ASTM regulatory documents specified in the specification. The inch-pound system is adopted as the base unit of measurement; SI values are for information purposes only.

It is important to note that the ASTM B599 standard does not cover safety issues regarding the subsequent operation of finished components. It is recommended to refer to the current Material Safety Data Sheet (MSDS) provided by EV Group China for each batch of material.

Note: The alloy designation follows the Unified Numbering System (UNS) for metals and alloys, regulated by ASTM E527 and SAE J1086.
