ASTM B775 / ASME SB 775 Standard: General Requirements for Welded Nickel Pipes

Technical Regulation and Scope of ASTM B775

This specification establishes a unified list of technical requirements for welded pipes and tubes manufactured from nickel and high-nickel alloys. This regulatory document serves as a baseline for a number of specific ASTM standards, with the exception of the provisions described in sections 5 and 10, which are recommendatory or optional in nature.

The ASTM B775 standard regulates the production of welded pipes (including longitudinally welded products) according to the following specifications supplied by EV Group China:

  • ASTM B464/B464M — welded pipes made of alloys UNS N08020, N08024, and N08026.
  • ASTM B514 — welded pipes made of nickel-iron-chromium alloys.
  • ASTM B517 — welded pipes made of nickel-iron-chromium alloys.
  • ASTM B619/B619M — welded pipes made of nickel and nickel-cobalt alloys.
  • ASTM B673 — welded pipes made of alloys UNS N08904, N08925, and N08926.
  • ASTM B675 — welded pipes made of alloy UNS N08367.
  • ASTM B705 — welded pipes made of nickel alloys UNS N06625 and N08825.
  • ASTM B723 — welded pipes made of nickel-chromium-molybdenum-cobalt-tungsten-iron-silicon alloys (UNS N06333).
  • ASTM B725 — welded pipes made of nickel (UNS N02200/N02201) and nickel-copper alloys (UNS N04400).

Integration of requirements: specific tests provided for in section 5 of the standard are carried out exclusively when there are corresponding instructions in the product-specific specification or in the terms of a commercial order.

In the event of a conflict between the provisions of this general standard and the requirements of a specific product specification, the requirements specified in the specific product specification take precedence.

Measurement system: the standard is based on the inch-pound system of units. The values given in parentheses are for informational converted SI values and do not have regulatory status.

Important note: this standard is not an exhaustive guide to safety practices for equipment operation and material handling.
