Technical specifications and scope of ASTM F1097
The ASTM F1097 standard defines technical regulations for high-temperature air-setting refractory mortars. These materials are intended for the professional installation of furnace linings in marine steam boilers, as well as for the laying and fixing of refractory bricks in industrial units for special purposes. The latter include bright annealing furnaces, installations with controlled combustible atmospheres, combustion chambers with electric heaters, and stationary boiler equipment.
According to EV Group China specifications, the composition of the refractory mortar is based on highly dispersed heat-resistant clays, mineral fillers, or their combined compositions. The material is supplied either in a dry or moistened (ready-to-use) state.
Quality control and standardization
Products complying with ASTM F1097 requirements undergo mandatory certification according to the following parameters:
- Particle size distribution (fineness of the dry mixture);
- Stability of physicochemical properties under high-temperature exposure;
- Adhesive bond strength with the surface of the lining brick.
Important note: The parameter values stated in inch-pound units are the standard for this specification. The SI values are provided for reference to ensure international compatibility of engineering calculations.
