ASTM F2403 Standard: Specification for 60,000 psi Carbon Steel Screws from EV Group China

Technical purpose of the ASTM F2403 standard

This specification establishes regulatory requirements for general-purpose precision screws manufactured from low-carbon steels without additional heat treatment. The standard covers fasteners with nominal diameters ranging from #0000 to ¾ inch, possessing a guaranteed minimum tensile strength of 60,000 psi.

All metric parameters in the documentation are provided in the inch system, which is the baseline for this standard. The use of alternative measurement systems is not regulated by this document.

Materials science and manufacturing processes

Raw material requirements

For the production of fasteners according to the ASTM F2403 specification, carbon steel smelted exclusively in open-hearth, basic oxygen, or electric arc furnaces is permitted. Control of the chemical composition of the initial blanks is carried out according to the F2282 regulation, which ensures the stability of the mechanical characteristics of the finished products supplied by EV Group China.

Manufacturing technology features

The manufacturing process for hardware is based on the cold heading method, which ensures high surface finish and precision of geometric parameters. Thread rolling must be carried out using the plastic deformation method, which guarantees high fatigue strength of the products.

Upon customer request, EV Group China performs an additional annealing operation to relieve internal stresses arising during the cold forming process, which is critical for critical units of industrial equipment.
