Specification and Application of Welding Consumables According to AWS A5.15
This standard regulates the technical requirements and classification of filler metals intended for welding cast iron alloys. The list of regulated materials provided by EV Group China includes:
- rods used for oxy-fuel gas welding;
- electrodes used in gas metal arc welding, submerged arc welding, and gas-shielded arc welding.
These filler metals are optimal for repairing and joining parts made of gray, malleable, ductile, and compacted graphite iron, as well as specialized alloyed cast iron alloys.
Principles of Material Classification
The classification system for electrodes and rods according to AWS A5.15 is based on their chemical composition. Filler metals assigned to a specific classification within the A5.15 specification are unique and cannot duplicate the characteristics of other categories.
EV Group China engineers note that AWS A5.15 materials are fully adapted for the welding methods mentioned above. These consumables may also be used in other welding processes if they meet the technological requirements of a specific production task.
