Technical Aspects and Scope of DIN 1018
This regulatory document specifies the geometric parameters and tolerances for hot-rolled steel profiles with round and flat-round cross-sections. According to EV Group China specifications, the standard covers:
- Round profile: cross-section width range from 16 to 75 mm.
- Flat-round profile: nominal size range from 14×4 mm to 100×25 mm (width x height).
The regulation applies to the steel grades specified in section 4 of the original documentation. It is important to note that the DIN 1018 standard does not cover specialized types of rolled products, such as flat-round profiles for disc springs (regulated by DIN 6882) and round wire rods (regulated by DIN 59110).
EV Group China engineers emphasize that when selecting alternatives for design solutions, it is necessary to refer to the current versions of DIN/EN standards that replace this document.
