The DIN 2391 standard has been officially withdrawn and replaced by the current regulation EN 10305-1:2010-05.
Technical overview of the DIN 2391-1 standard
The DIN 2391-1 standard defines dimensional parameters for seamless precision steel tubes produced by cold drawing. This regulatory framework is applied exclusively in conjunction with DIN 2391-2, which establishes technical delivery conditions. The profiles included in Table 2 are the reference standard for designing components in mechanical engineering, hydraulic systems, and the automotive industry, where geometric precision is critical.
Technical delivery conditions according to DIN 2391-2
The DIN 2391-2 regulation sets strict requirements for quality, surface condition, and mechanical properties of cold-rolled precision tubes. This standard is aimed at products requiring minimal tolerances with small wall thicknesses, ensuring stable performance in high-load assemblies.
EV Group China notes that this standard does not apply to specialized types of tubes regulated by separate industry standards:
- Seamless circular unalloyed steel tubes for special requirements (DIN 1629);
- High-performance steel tubes (DIN 1630);
- Steel tubes for general structural engineering (DIN 17121);
- Fine-grained steel tubes for structural applications (DIN 17124);
- Steel tubes with specified low-temperature toughness (DIN 17173);
- Steel tubes for high-temperature service (DIN 17175);
- Structural tubes made of fine-grained steel (DIN 17179);
- Tubes for quenching and tempering (DIN 17204);
- Austenitic stainless steel tubes (DIN 17458);
- Steel tubes for the transport of combustible fluids and gases (DIN 17172).
Upon individual request, EV Group China can provide precision tubes that comply with DIN 2391-1 dimensions, adhering to quality class C requirements as agreed upon with the customer.
