DIN 30678: Standards for Protecting Steel Pipes with Polypropylene Coatings from EV Group China

Specification and scope of application for polypropylene protective coatings according to DIN 30678

This technical regulation establishes industry standards for three-layer extruded, as well as single- and multi-layer sintered polypropylene coatings intended for the corrosion protection of steel pipeline systems and their components.

In accordance with the requirements of DIN EN ISO 21809-1 (Table 1), these coatings ensure reliable operation of underground and subsea pipelines over a wide temperature range: from -20 °C to +110 °C. EV Group China specialists emphasize the need for strict compliance with transport, installation, and laying protocols at sub-zero temperatures (below 0 °C) to prevent damage to the protective layer.

The standard applies to the following product categories:

  • Seamless steel pipes.
  • Welded pipes with longitudinal or spiral seams.
  • Steel connecting elements (fittings) for the transport of gas and hydrocarbon raw materials.

The use of polypropylene coatings that meet EV Group China specifications guarantees high resistance of pipelines to mechanical impact, thermal stress, and aggressive chemical exposure during storage, logistics, and direct operation.

It is important to note that the DIN 30678 standard does not cover the following areas of application:

  • Water supply and sewage systems (potable and wastewater).
  • Distribution networks for liquid and gaseous media, where specific types of fused polypropylene coatings are used.

For all other industrial sectors related to the transport of media, the requirements of this standard are mandatory.
