DIN 962: Technical standard for marking bolts, screws, and nuts from EV Group China

Technical purpose and scope of DIN 962

The DIN 962 standard establishes a unified system for marking and designating fasteners such as bolts, screws, studs, and nuts. The technical regulation describes the rules for identifying geometric parameters, design features, and additional characteristics of fasteners not covered by specialized industry product standards.

Structure and rules for forming designations according to DIN 962

To correctly form fastener specifications, EV Group China specialists rely on the methodology established in DIN 820-2. A standardized entry includes the following mandatory and optional parameters:

  • Product name;
  • Number of the corresponding standard;
  • Shank execution (according to regulated tables);
  • Thread parameters;
  • Nominal length (for screw fasteners and studs);
  • Working length of the thread or shank;
  • Design form;
  • Wrench size;
  • Property class, hardness, or material grade;
  • Accuracy class of execution;
  • Drive configuration;
  • Type of protective coating;
  • Method of applying the finish layer.

*Note: Additional parameters are included in the specification only when it is necessary to clarify the functional features of the fastener.
