Technical regulation EN 10080: requirements for weldable reinforcing steel
The international standard EN 10080 defines the key performance indicators and technical requirements for weldable steel reinforcement used for reinforcing reinforced concrete structures. Products complying with this standard are supplied in the following formats:
- Straightened bars and coils (wire rod or wire);
- Industrial reinforcing meshes manufactured by resistance welding;
- Welded spatial cages and trusses.
Production technology allows for various types of surface profiles: smooth, ribbed, or with indentations, which ensures optimal adhesion with concrete.
Limitations of the standard’s scope
The EN 10080 specification does not apply to the following types of metal products:
- Steels not intended for welding;
- Metal products with additional protective layers (epoxy or zinc coating);
- Stainless and corrosion-resistant steel grades;
- High-strength reinforcement for prestressed structures;
- Notched strip steel;
- Products that have undergone secondary mechanical processing (cutting, bending, or other operations after production).
EV Group China provides supplies of reinforcing steel that fully comply with EN 10080 regulations, guaranteeing the stability of the chemical composition and strength characteristics of each batch.
